Mallender wins Handicap Competition, Lammin wins players "Player of the Year".
In an exciting hour long final Ian Mallender (-8pts) overcame stiff opposition from Dick Taylor (-2pts) to win in five games. Taylor won the first game at a canter (9-1) with Mallender working very hard to win the next two games (9-6, 9-4). Whilst the momentum appeared to be with Mallender, Taylor pulled out all the stops in the fourth and had a run of points that secured him the game (9-2). Taylors efforts in the fourth had drained his reserves and a determined Mallender attacked the game and ran out the easy winner in the fifth 9 - -1.
In the Ladies Final Emma Atkinson (-9) triumphed in three games over Audrey Rumbles (+2). Rumbles kept the match close allowing Atkinson no room for errors in this handicap event (9-5, 9-7, 9-6).
The Handicap Plate Final also proved to be a close and hard fought match between Steve Hame (-5) and John King (-1). Hame took the first two games (9-7, 9-2) making light of his handicap then King got into the game picking up lots of Hame's hard struck shots and taking the third game narrowly (9-7) and breezing through the fourth (9-3). In a tight fifth game, a determined Hame couldn't overcome the handicap and King served for the match several times before finally winning 9-5.
